Two of the major music education projects that Hand on Heart Arts have been working on over the last year have been shortlisted for Music Teacher Excellence Awards 2016!

Bold As Deal Festival

BOLD AS is a Deal Festival education project designed to revitalise brass playing in East Kent and presents an exciting opportunity for children and young people to learn a brass instrument and play creatively in a brass ensemble alongside professional musicians. The project involves weekly tuition by local brass tutors, regular pBone and pTrumpet creative workshops with top-class professional musicians, introductory whole school assembly sessions, and in-school and public concerts at the Deal Festival. Musical Director Phil White, professional music team Letty Stott and Tim Hayward. Project devised and managed by Deal Festival’s Education Director Laura Callaghan Grooms (of Hand on Heart Arts).

UP! Orchestra is a Surrey Music Hub programme: it is one of the first of its kind in the country and enables young people in Surrey with special educational needs and disabilities to play in an orchestra with other musicians. The orchestra’s Creative / Musical Director is Laura Callaghan Grooms of Hand on Heart Arts, and is supported by music leaders Russ Callaghan Grooms, Craig Warnock, Danny Page and Charlotte White from Rhythmix.
